BIOIDENTICAL NATURAL HORMONES

Bioidentical natural hormones are defined as those hormones identical in chemical structure to those your body produces or has made in the past. Bioidentical natural hormones are ideal because your body recognizes them and easily assimilates them.

Dr. Hirsch has been using bioidentical natural hormones in her practice for 17 years and has a tremendous amount of experience in this area. Many commercially available hormones such as Estrogen are made from soy and are in the bioidentical form. Licensed sterile compounding pharmacies have the added benefit of more dosing options which can be individualized with quality control. With close monitoring, appropriate hormone levels can be achieved.

Perimenopause, the name for the transitional phase as a women approaches menopause, can last for several years and ends when women's periods stop for 12 months. Perimenopause is a time of extreme hormone fluctuations in your body. You may even start to experience these normal and natural changes in your 30's. During this time Dr. Hirsch works closely with her patients to monitor their symptoms and adjusts hormone levels as indicated by regular testing.

Menopause is a time when you are no longer producing female hormones, and lasts the rest of your life. This can be a result of surgery or simply a part of the natural aging process. The average age for menopause is 53 and the average age for andropause (male menopause) in men is 80.

Menopause is a hormone deficient state associated with accelerated aging. With modern medicine our life expectancy has dramatically increased; many women will spend at least a third of their life in menopause. For example, in 1920 women had a 50% chance of reaching age 50. It is only in the past 100 years, that the majority of women live significantly beyond the age of menopause.

For those women who choose not to use bioidentical natural hormones, an array of specially designed medical grade supplements are offered These supplements allow a more comfortable transition from perimenopause through the postmenopausal years.

Good nutrition is important for all hormones in your body to function. By optimizing nutrition, the body will achieve maximum health. Patients who chose to add a nutritional program will see superior results and benefits. All patients are evaluated and offered an individualized program, which may include bioidentical natural hormones, medical grade supplements and nutritional counseling. Within a few weeks women achieve superior results and benefits in all aspects of their lives.
